The McMaster basketball teams will tip off the OUA season tonight versus the Guelph Gryphons, with games at 6 p.m. for the women, followed by the men playing at 8 o'clock.

With the OUA returning to an East-West division format this season, the clash between the Marauders and Gryphons renews an old OUA West rivalry, with both teams looking to get an early edge in the standings.

The McMaster women's team enters league play after a successful weekend at the Ryerson Darcel Wright Memorial tournament, where Mac won three games to take the tourney title.  After a season opening loss to McGill, the McMaster record stands at 3-1.  Coach Theresa Burns will direct a veteran line-up that will work to take top spot in the OUA West.

The Marauder men are still getting used to having a new coach in charge, as Patrick Tatham puts his stamp on the team.   McMaster won 3 of 4 non-conference games at home, while losing three games at the Calgary Dino tournament to start the OUA schedule at 3-4 overall.  Still building team chemistry and program culture, Coach Tatham know that divisional games are important for playoff positioning down the road.

Tickets are $ 10 for adults and $ 5 for students, while McMaster students wearing maroon get free admission with valid student ID.
