The McMaster women's basketball team wrapped up non-conference play in style, by sweeping three games to take the tournament championship at the Ryerson Darcel Wright Memorial Tournament. The Marauders defeated the Saskatchewan Huskies 59-47 in the Gold medal game on Sunday afternoon.
This marks the third consecutive year that McMaster has taken top spot at the Ryerson event.
In earlier action, the Marauders defeated the University of New Brunswick 81-64 in their opening game to advance to the semi-finals, getting 21 points from Olivia Wilson, 18 from Hilary Hanaka, and 16 from Linnaea Harper.
In the semi-final, Mac defeated the host Ryerson Rams 68-58, behind 15 points from Hanaka and 12 from Harper.
In the tournament championship contest, Jelena Mamic led the Marauders with 15, followed by Hanaka, who scored 14.
The Marauders will now prepare for the OUA season opener on Wednesday, October 25 when they will host the Guelph Gryphons at the Burridge Gym for a 6-pm tip-off.
