Women's Soccer: Tough Opening Half Sees Mac Sunk 3-0 in Guelph

The Marauders now sit two points out of the final OUA West playoff spot with three matches to play.

A sobering result on Wednesday night ensured that McMaster's journey to a potential playoff spot in the OUA West will come down to the wire, as Mac sits second to last with three games to play after a 3-0 road loss in Guelph.

Suffering their second consecutive defeat, the Marauders (2-6-5) have 11 points from 13 matches, and sit two points back of the Brock Badgers and York Lions for the sixth and final playoff position in the division.

McMaster was held without a goal for the fourth time this season on Wednesday, mustering four shots on Guelph goalkeeper Brooke Davidson to no avail.

Roaring out of the gate on their home turf, the Gryphons scored all three of the game's goals in the opening half, with Katya Tarasoff opening scoring in the sixth minute, before Victoria Hinchcliffe (40th) and Alana MacLean (45th) put the hosts well out front just before the break.

NEXT UP: McMaster plays host to the Brock Badgers at Ron Joyce Stadium on Sunday, October 15. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
