WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: MARAUDERS HAMMER GUELPH

Box Score The McMaster women's basketball team continued their dominant play on Saturday evening, using strong defence from start to finish as they defeated the Guelph Gryphons 95-57.
 
The Marauders came out firing, and started the game on an 18-2 run. They played lockdown defence for the entire first quarter as Guelph couldn't get anything going, amd Mac went into the second quarter leading 24-7.
 
In the second, the Gryphons made an early run to get back into the game. In the first minute they went on a 7-0 run, matching their scoring output for the entire first quarter. McMaster responded with an 11-4 run and then continued to pile it on as the Maroon went into the intermission leading 49-25.
 
The second half started with both teams exchanging buckets, although with McMaster already by up 24, Guelph was unable to cut into the lead.  The Marauders held a 68-45 advantage going into the final frame.
 
In the fourth, the Marauders built on their lead even more. They began the quarter with three quick triples that were part of a 12-4 run. Mac outscored Guelph 27-14 in the quarter on their way to a 38-point victory.
 
Danielle Boiago led McMaster in scoring with 25, while Clare Kenney scored 13 points and pulled down six rebounds as well.
 
The Marauders were able to hold Guelph to just one three-pointer on 13 attempts, as the Gryphons shot just 31% on the night compared to 44% from McMaster.
 
The Marauders will next host the York Lions on Friday, January 20 as the start-up for the 30th Marauder Weekend.
