Women's Soccer: Murchie's Early Goal Sinks Marauders

Box Score McMaster enjoyed another game full of possession on Saturday, but goals continued to be hard to come by. The Marauders suffered their second shutout of the season, and lost their third consecutive game, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Laurier Golden Hawks at Ron Joyce Stadium.

The only goal of the game fell to Laurier's Maxine Murchie, who struck in the 33rd minute.

After drawing their first two games of the season, McMaster has now lost their last three, while Laurier built on a 6-0 demolition of the Brock Badgers in midweek.

McMaster enjoyed a wide advantage in both possession and total shots, pressuring the Hawks for much of the late first and second halves. But finishing remained an issue as it had since the season's opening, and none of Mac's chances seriously challenged Laurier keeper Ashley Almeida.

NEXT UP: The Marauders host the Guelph Gryphons in an afternoon game at Ron Joyce Stadium on Wednesday, September 14 … Laurier hosts Windsor on September 17.
