WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: MARAUDERS FACE WINDSOR IN PLAYOFF OPENER

It has been a long season for the McMaster women's volleyball team, but there is no time to rest as the post-season looms on the horizon, with the Marauders hosting the Windsor Lancers in OUA quarterfinal action on Friday, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Burridge Gym.

McMaster ended conference play with a record of 16-3 in the OUA West, which was the same record as the Western Mustangs, but Western took the top spot in the division on a tiebreaker.

Windsor finished in third place at 11-8, while Guelph, at 9-10, took the final playoff spot and will travel to London to face Western in the other quarterfinal match-up.

The Marauders swept the season series against the Lancers this season, winning in Hamilton 3-0 in November, and then rallying from a two-set deficit to take the 3-2 win in Windsor on January 29th.

Coach Tim Louks believes the series sweep won't be a factor in his team entering play on Friday overconfident. "We were down two sets in Windsor so we don't have to remind anyone that the team we're facing can play a style we need to handle," explains the McMaster mentor. "It may be something that Windsor refers to more than us, but we just have to understand the way they play to reinforce what we have been doing all year."

"I'm just hoping that it's a fun, exciting, entertaining match, played in front of a raucous crowd," adds Louks.
The bracket in the OUA East Division see the undefeated Toronto Varsity Blues hosting the Ottawa Gee-Gees, while the second-place Ryerson Rams will be at home to face the No. 3 Queen's Gaels.

The OUA Quarter-final matchups will end Saturday, Feb. 27, with the winner of each advancing to the March 4 semifinal round, which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. The gold and bronze medal championships will take place on March 5.
