Dr. David Levy Returns to McMaster

The McMaster Department of Athletics & Recreation is very pleased to announce that renowned sports medicine specialist Dr. David Levy has joined the staff of the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre.
 
"This is great news for our department," said Glen Grunwald, McMaster Director of Athletics and Recreation. "To add one of Canada's premier sports medicine physicians to our staff can only enhance the service we provide to our patients throughout the greater Hamilton community."
 
This move marks a return to McMaster for Dr. Levy, who  founded the Athletic Injury Clinic at McMaster in 1978, where he was the only physician on staff.   He returns to a facility that is considered world-class among sports injury clinics in Canada.

"We are beyond excited to have Dr. Levy return to the sports medicine team at McMaster," said Gloria Kiefer-Preston, Manager of  the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre. "We want our patients to receive the best  care possible and his return will strengthen our foundation and culture as a world class facility."
 
A sports medicine pioneer over his career,  Dr. Levy started the first  primary sport medicine clinic in Southern Ontario.   He has  been the team physician to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Football Club for 43 years and has been the medical director of the Toronto  Rock Professional Lacrosse team since its inception. He has been a physician to McMaster University and Mohawk College Varsity sports teams and clinics for over 30 years. He is also on the medical staff of the Hamilton Bulldogs AHL hockey team and the team physician to Hamilton's Breast Cancer Dragon boat team, Knot A Breast, for the past 18 years.
 
Dr. Levy is a graduate of McMaster University where he is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine with a cross appointment in the Department of Medicine (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation). In recognition of his many professional efforts and achievements he was honored in 2013 as a Hamilton Hall of Fame Inductee as a Sports Medicine Builder. 
 
The David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre is a state of the art facility open to all members of the community, including  students, faculty and staff, and members of the public in and around Hamilton.  Located in the David Braley Athletic Centre,  free parking is provided to patients for paid services.
