MARAUDER BASKETBALL TEAMS BOTH LOOK TO REBOUND VS. TORONTO

With both of the McMaster basketball teams having lost to Ryerson in their last games, they will be looking to give the home fans something to cheer about when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, November 14th at the Burridge Gym.

The Marauder women got down early against Ryerson and tasted defeat for the first time this season, so expect the team to come into Saturday's game in a bad mood.   The Marauders played Toronto earlier in the pre-season and brought home an 82-48 win, but being an OUA conference game the Blues will likely provide a stiffer challenge.

After struggling with their shooting in the first half vs. Ryerson, McMaster will hope to get off to a quicker start and not have to play from behind.   While Danielle Boiago and Clare Kenney were able to match their normal production in the last game, the Marauders will need to get the kind of balanced scoring from the roster that has seen them ranked No. 1 in the national top-ten.

On the men's side, McMaster has struggled of late and will take nothing for granted against a Toronto team that almost upset Ryerson in its OUA opener.    Similar to the women's game, the Marauders gave up an early lead to Ryerson and had to play from behind and were not able to complete the comeback.

The Varsity Blues come to Hamilton off a win in their last game, having defeated the Waterloo Warriors 91-65, and knowing that McMaster's line-up is depleted by injury Toronto will be looking for the upset.

With a record of 1 and 2 in the early going, the Marauders will be playing to avoid another home loss before they head out on the road next week for games at Queen's and York.  A cold-shooting performance against Ryerson did not help the cause, and improving the team's field-goal percentage will be a key element of getting a win over Toronto.

The doubleheader tips off at 6 p.m. on Saturday with the women's game, followed by men's action at 8 p.m..
