Cross Country: Darlington and Morgan Lead Mac to Gold at Queen's Invitational

Their major competition was missing on Saturday, but the Marauders made the most of the reduced field, claiming team gold in on the men's side and silver in the women's at the Queen's Invitational in Kingston.?

Veterans Connor Darlington and Blair Morgan paced the Mac men to the win, crossing the line third and fourth respectively -- just three tenths of a second between them -- to provide the team's low posts. Luke Charbonneau and Derek Van Schepen also crossed the line as a pair, finishing ninth and 10th respectively, while Gabe Ghiglione completed the scoring for Mac by crossing the line 12th and scoring 11th.?

Their combined performances led the Marauders to a dominant win in the team standings, finishing 25 points ahead of the silver medalists from Queen's.?

Meanwhile, Maddy McDonald was once again the low post for the McMaster women, crossing the line sixth overall but placing third among CIS-eligible runners. She was followed closely by Emily Nowak and Gabrielle Foran, who scored ninth and 10th respectively, while Chelsea Mackinnon and Maddie Benjamin rounded out the team with scores of 11 and 13.?

The Marauders will now spend a week away from competition, before travelling to Waterloo to take part in the OUA Championships on Halloween.
