MARAUDER WOMEN HOST LAKEHEAD IN PLAYOFF BASKETBALL

The McMaster women's basketball team will get one final run on the Burridge Gym floor as the team hosts the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a first-round OUA West playoff game on Wednesday, February 19th. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

The Marauders finished in 4th-place in the OUA West with a record of 13-9, one game ahead of 12-10 Lakehead. The teams split their season series three weeks ago in Thunder Bay, with Lakehead taking a 52-46 decision on January 31st, and McMaster coming back the following night to win 72-63 and gain the split.

The addition of guard Jylisa Williams, who joined the roster after the holiday break, has made Lakehead a much improved team. Williams has averaged 20-points per game and 11-rebounds per game and has helped the Thunderwolves go 8-4 since play resumed in January. The Marauders also have to cope with fifth-year veterans Kelsey Bardsley and Ayse Kalkan, who each average over 10-PPG.

McMaster will continue to look toward its inside-outside combo of Hailey Milligan and Danielle Boiago for production. Milligan averaged 18.4-PPG and her 11.7-RPG led the OUA and was tops in the nation for the second year in a row. Boiago scored 15.7-PPG and her 44 three-point goals was second in the OUA and set a new McMaster team record. Aside from those two, McMaster scoring drops off considerably and the key to a win over Lakehead will be if the Marauders can get production elsewhere in the line-up.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to play either Windsor or Western on Saturday, February 22nd.
