MEN'S BASKETBALL LEAVES OTTAWA LOOKING FOR FIRST OUA WIN

There will be plenty of teams that travel to Ottawa for OUA men's basketball games and come home empty-handed this year.  The McMaster Marauders are in that camp, after facing the top-ranked Carleton Ravens on Saturday night, and dropping an 92-75 contest to fall to 0 and 2 in OUA play.

For the second straight game, McMaster allowed its opponent to have a big opening quarter as the Ravens hit 4 of 7 from long-range to take a 30-17 lead after 10 minutes. The Marauders scrapped back in the second quarter and by halftime had trimmed the deficit to 10 at 46-36.

The third quarter saw McMaster struggle again, with a combination of foul trouble and too much of the Scrubb brothers, resulting in the Raven lead ballooning to 68-46.

The Marauders played hard to the final whistle but the 17-point margin at the end was the closest the Maroon could get to the defrending national champs.

Carleton got 32 points from Phil Scrubb, with his brother Thomas adding 21 to lead the scoring.  Top shooter for McMaster was Taylor Black with 15, with Adam Presutti chipping in 13.

Next action for the Marauders will be on Friday, November 14 versus the Lakehead Thunderwolves.  It's the second half of a hoops doubleheader with the women's game at 6p.m. followed by the men's clash at 8 p.m.
