The Ottawa Gee-Gees gave the Marauders a rude welcome on their first roadtrip of the season Saturday.
Ottawa cruised past McMaster in straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-18) to deal the Marauders their first loss of the young season.
Veteran left side Myriam English paced the Gee-Gees with 17.5 points, converting 14 of 24 hitting attempts versus four errors (.417). Joanna Jedrzejewska was the top scorer for the Marauders in a losing effort, posting 12.5 points with 10 kills, two aces and a block assist.
It was a day to forget for McMaster's offence, which hit just .088 with 28 kills against 20 errors on Saturday.
The Marauders will look to rebound in a week's time, as they travel to Thunder Bay for a weekend doubleheader against the Lakehead Thunderwolves, beginning on Friday.
