WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO PALADINS IN FIVE

Box Score The Marauder women's volleyball team came out on the wrong end of a marathon, see-saw battle with the RMC Paladins on Friday night, one that saw the two teams enter extra points in the fifth set before it was decided.

Set scores were 25-23, 14-25, 25-14, 22-25 and 17-15 in favour of the Paladins who put an end to the Marauders' five-match conference win streak.

McMaster rookie Sophie Bukovec led all scorers with 23 points on Friday, converting 18 of 45 hitting attempts versus five errors (28.9 per cent) and adding five aces. Fellow outside hitter Lauren Mastroluisi was also productive in a losing effort, scoring 16 points including 13 kills on 35 attempts and three aces.

Danielle Vortisch and Chelsey Litjens each had 20 points for the host Paladins, while Nicole Behnke chipped in 15.

The Marauders will look to bounce back on Saturday, as they remain in Kingston to face the Queen's Gaels. That match is slated to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
