A trip to the Junior Pan Am Games was at stake for Marauder Maddy McDonald at the recent Canadian Junior National Track & Field Championships, and she rose to the occasion by taking the silver medal in the 3000-metre race to book her ticket to Medellin, Columbia.
A native of Toronto, McDonald ran a personal best time of 9:32.59 in the 3000-metres and that qualified her for the Canadian junior national team that will compete at the Junior Pan American Games being held August 23-25, 2013. Her time at the Junior Nationals shattered her previous best time in that event by almost nine-seconds.
After completing a sensational debut season in Maroon, her upcoming trip to Columbia in August will be McDonald's second international competition this year, as she competed at the World Junior Cross Country Championship in Poland last March, where she finished 47
th overall and helped Canada to a ninth-place finish in the overall team standings.
