BOIAGO POWERS MARAUDERS TO PLAYOFF UPSET OVER BROCK

Box Score The McMaster women's basketball team got 30 points from freshman phenom Danielle Boiago and defeated the Brock Badgers 73-67 in the OUA West Division semi-finals in St. Catharines.

It was a fired up group of Marauders that made the trip to the Badgers' Den, as they came out with guns blazing and grabbed a 26-10 lead, before Brock finished the first quarter with three baskets to trim the deficit to 10.

The Badgers won the second quarter, but still trailed at halftime as McMaster held a 40-37 lead at the half.

With both teams playing to extend their seasons, the game went back and forth and after three quarters the McMaster lead was down to a single point at 54-53.

As the teams traded scores in the fourth quarter, it came down to Mac holding a 68-67 advantage when Boiago drained a trey with 30.1 seconds left to make it a two possession game. She then hit two late free throws to clinch the win after Brock failed twice to score.

Along with Boiago's 30, McMaster got 17 points from Hailey Milligan, who also grabbed 14 boards,    Liz Burns.chipped in 10 points, while Vanessa Bonomo had 9 points and 5 assists.

Brock was led by Andrea Polischuk with 22 points, while Nicole Rosenkranz added 19.

McMaster moves on to face the Windsor Lancers in the OUA West division final.  The game will be held at Windsor's St. Denis Centre on Saturday, March 2 at 7 pm.
