The Marauders continued their hot start to the second semester, picking up a dominant 97-67 win over the Guelph Gryphons on the road Wednesday.

Aaron Redpath had 21 points to lead all scorers in the win, and converted four of his six attempts from beyond the arc in the process. Rohan Boney finished with 18 points of his own, and misssed only one field goal attempt.

Zach Angus paced the Gryphons with 17 points in a losing effort.

The victory was McMaster's third-consecutive in conference play since returning from the holiday. The streaking Marauders evened their conference record at 5-5 with the win.

The Gryphons took an early five-point lead out of the gate, after McCarthy hit for three. But the Marauders recovered well, and Aaron Redpath nailed a triple of his own off a kick-out from Scott Laws to narrow the gap to one at 8-7.

McMaster went cold from the field midway through the quarter, and the hosts took advantage as Michel Clark's three-pointer restored the five-point lead with six minutes remaining in the first. The Marauders took their first lead of the game with 2:26 to play in the quarter, when a Taylor Black tip-in moved the score to 16-15 in McMaster's favour.

The visitors finished the quarter with a 22-17 lead, after Redpath shook his defender and drained a long jumper adjusted in flight.

Taylor Black kicked off the second on a positive note when he took contact on a short-range floater and converted the resulting three-point play. Black struck again from behind the arc as the Marauders' lead swelled to 11 at 30-19. McMaster held that advantage throughout the quarter, with Scott Laws finishing an and-one to move the Marauders ahead 37-25 with four minutes remaining in the half.

Redpath scored eight of his 21 points late in the second as the sophomore found his shooting stroke from range. Teammate Rohan Boney put the finishing touch on the Marauders' strong quarter by winding down the clock and driving for a layup to close out the half 52-33.

Redpath continued to score with ease out of the interval, slashing for another and-one layup to open the second half. The teams maintained the status quo throughout the third quarter, and Rohan Boney's third-chance lay-in returned the Marauders to a 21-point lead at 65-44.

It quickly became a rout as the third came to a close, and Adam Presutti's drive and converted bank shot gave McMaster a 76-44 advantage at the end of the quarter. The Gryphons finally scored two minutes into the fourth to break what had stretched to a 19-0 run for the Marauders. But things were academic in the final quarter, as McMaster held a 30-plus point lead even with reserves coming into the game.
