MARAUDERS FALL IN FIVE TO GRYPHONS ON THE ROAD

Box Score Guelph, Ont. - The McMaster women's volleyball team were defeated by the Guelph Gryphons on Friday night at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre in a five set match.

McMaster would go ahead two sets to none. Winning the first set 25-23, the second set would need extra points and would end 28-26 in favour of the Marauders. McMaster would tally 27 kills in the first two sets.

The third wouldn't be so favourable as the Gryphons came back with a vengence. Their kill percentage would be a a game-high 42% in comparison to McMaster's 4% and they would force a fourth set, winning 25-14.

The fourth would also go in favour of the home team as the Gryphons won it 25-21.

In the fifth and final deciding set, Guelph was able to come out on top, winning it 15-9. McMaster would tally just four kills and had six errors in the fifth set loss.

Kaliee Stock (Newmarket, Ont.) had a team-high 10 kills in the match, middle Taylor Brisebois (Bolton, Ont.) tallied eight and libero Meagan Nederveen (Dundas, Ont.) recorded 21 digs.

For the Gryphons, Nicole Collard (Kitchener, Ont.) had a game-high 16 kills, followed by teammate Julie Gordon (Barrie, Ont.) who had another 14. Setter Katelyn Larson (Calgary, Alta.) recorded 55 assists.

The Marauders will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday at 12pm at Burridge Gymnasium.
