The OUA schedule makers didn’t do the McMaster women’s basketball team any favours, as the Marauders will tackle two top-ten teams when the OUA east-west interlocking schedule starts on Friday, November 11, 2011.
McMaster’s Burridge Gym will host doubleheader action that starts with the Marauder women taking on the Carleton Ravens at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.
The Carleton Ravens come to Hamilton as the third-ranked team in the CIS top-ten, having gone 9 and 1 vs. Canadian competition, with the only loss being to the top-ranked Regina Cougars. Carleton competed in its first CIS Final-8 last March, and with most of that roster returning looks like a top contender in the OUA east division.
The Marauders completed non-conference play with a record of two wins and seven losses, but never played with a completely healthy roster. With many of the banged up players getting closer to game shape, Coach Theresa Burns expects her squad to provide some stiff competition for OUA opponents.
On Saturday, November 12, the Marauders will face another ranked rival, as the Ottawa Gee Gees come to Hamilton. Ottawa is currently ranked number-10 in the CIS rankings.
Saturday’s doubleheader tips off with women’s action at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.
