Quinlan had a sensational season for the Marauders in 2011. In nine games, he completed almost 65% of his passes for 3,090 yards and 21 touchdowns, while rushing for 599 yards and two major scores. Honoured as a first-team OUA All-Star and a second-team CIS All-Canadian, Quinlan led McMaster to the first Vanier Cup win in school history. He was named most valuable player of the Yates Cup and Uteck Bowl games, and the offensive MVP at the Vanier Cup. Quinlan was also named the Golden Horseshoe Athlete of the Year for 2011.
