With her team barrelling toward the OUA playoffs and jockeying for position within the West Division, Merino-Sierra put in two of her most complete performance of the season to help the Marauders to six crucial points.
The midfielder, who plays in a holding role ahead of McMaster’s defensive backline, was constantly called into action to clean up loose balls and retake possession in the middle of the park, and given the freedom to move forward when the opportunity to counter presented itself.
Her energy from box to box, commitment to the tackle and calmness in possession worked wonders as McMaster collected a pair of clean sheets in matches against Waterloo and Windsor to earn 1-0 and 2-0 wins and carve out sole ownership of fourth in the OUA West standings with just two matches left to be played in the regular season.
The final weekend of play sees the Marauders travel to Guelph to battle the Gryphons on Friday, October 18 before capping the campaign at home with a pivotal match against the Brock Badgers at Ron Joyce Stadium on Sunday, October 20.
