Demonstrating the incredible potential of the top scorers on McMaster’s no. 2-ranked men’s cross country team, Drover stepped up to lead the Marauders to their third consecutive meet title Friday.
The third-year runner led the way at the Marauders Bayfront Open, hosted by McMaster at the site of the 2019 OUA Championships at Hamilton’s Bayfront Park, by finishing the men’s eight kilometre race in 24:09.6 to win the individual gold by a three-second margin. His performance helped the Marauders to ease to the team title without regular top-three scorer Andrew Davies, as Sergio Raez-Villanueva followed with bronze and Max Turek crossed the line fifth.
In all, the Marauders five scorers combined for a blistering total of 24 points, and easily outpaced the silver-medal-winning Western Mustangs by a 31-point margin.
McMaster returns to Bayfront Park to play host to the OUA Championships on Saturday, October 26.
