Lending her skills to both the singles and doubles competitions on Saturday, Janna Malone helped the McMaster women’s tennis team open 2019 on a winning note against Waterloo. The veteran Marauder teamed with second-year Julia Schuster to clinch the doubles point for the host Marauders, defeating the Warriors duo of Nathalie Skaf and Nancy Wu 8-3 in the second doubles match.
In singles, Malone played as McMaster’s no. 2 and handily dispatched her opposite number Evi Zafiris 6-1, 6-1 to provide the Marauders most lopsided victory of the day. Ultimately, Mac and Waterloo were level on three matches each from the singles, with the Marauders edging the team match 4-3 on the strength of the doubles point.
