Bringing her trademark shooting to bear as the Marauders opened their playoff run at home Saturday, the second-year guard from Newmarket, Ont. easily posted a career playoff high with 28 points in McMaster’s 81-70 win over the Brock Badgers.

Gates was lights-out for the Marauders and helped her team sustain the absence of star forward Linnaea Harper, as she hit nine of 16 attempts from the field and five of 10 from three-point range. She drained five of six trips to the free throw line, and finished just two rebounds shy of a double double.

Her efforts helped McMaster advance to the OUA semifinals, where the Marauders will host the Carleton Ravens at Burridge Gym in a 6:00 p.m. encounter.
