While her personal bests remained intact after Friday’s dual meet with the Waterloo Warriors, the second-year from Surrey, BC re-affirmed her position as McMaster’s pre-eminent freestyler, winning two individual golds and contributing to a relay gold as well.
Lei took the top spot at 100m with a time of 58.78 that bested Marauders teammate Veronica Nichol by just over a second, before taking part in the 200m individual medley. There, she took good in 2:26.84, once again getting the better of a teammate in fellow second-year Emma Schlyter.
With Marauders dominating the 4x100m relays, Lei joined forces with Nichol, Schlyter and Dvorski on McMaster’s ‘A’ team and helped the group out-pace their nearest competitors by nearly 10 seconds. Their time of 4:03.37 ranks the Marauders fifth in the country for the long course season.
Lei’s impressive form bodes well for the looming OUA Championships, which will be hosted by the Brock Badgers in St. Catharines between February 6 and 8.
