With her team looking to continue its unbeaten start to the season, Sarah Gates enjoyed the best weekend of her young Marauders career to lead McMaster to a pair of victories on the team's northern road swing through North Bay and Sudbury on Friday and Saturday.
Gates connected on nine of her 12 attempts from the field, and six of eight from three-point range, to rack up a new career single-game high of 24 points, as McMaster demolished the Nipissing Lakers 91-44 Friday. She replicated that point tally the following night, leading the Marauders and the game in Mac's tightly-fought 74-70 win over Laurentian. While her percentage from the floor dropped, hitting six of 16 shots on the night, Gates was lights out from the free throw line, knocking down 11 of 14 attempts from the stripe.
