The third-year Paradise, Newfoundland native opened his season in style at the Marauders home tournament Saturday, winning gold in the 68kg weight class to provide one of the Mac men’s three medals on the day.

Joy defeated Guelph’s Pierra Arabadjian and Brock’s Roch Provost to advance to the divisional final, where he narrowly out-pointed Guelph’s Gunnar Sales to top the podium.
