The fourth-year Civil Engineering major was a pillar of strength for the Marauders this past weekend, as McMaster went 2-1 at the Canadian University Men’s Rugby Championship in Guelph to earn bronze at the inaugural event.

Smith was named as the Man of the Match in Mac’s opening game of the tournament, a 38-11 victory over the RSEQ champion Concordia Stingers in Pool A play. The veteran prop proved a constant headache for opponents, creating line breaks with his sheer physicality and adding his presence to McMaster’s strong set piece work.

He was one of three Marauders named to the Tournament Dream Team Sunday, after McMaster had secured bronze with a 28-3 win over the host Guelph Gryphons, their first win over the OUA silver medalists in three attempts this year.
