Starting on the right side for a new look Marauders lineup, across the net from the NCAA champions at a packed Burridge Gym, Matt Passalent showed that he is ready to shoulder the load in 2017-18.
The third-year Geography and Environmental Sciences major posted a match high of 22 kills and 23.5 points Friday, as the Marauders fought back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes 3-2 in the first half of the teams’ two-match Nike North America Challenge.
With the Marauders and Buckeyes matching starting sixes against one another, Passalent hit a blistering 65 per cent on the night, easily the most efficient mark on the floor, and had an ace and eight digs in an all-around effort.
