The Mono, Ont. native completed a promising rookie season with an exceptionally productive weekend at the OUA Championship, hosted by the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo between Friday, October 20 and Sunday, October 22.
Skillen scored a total of 10 goals and added three assists over the course of the three-day event, notching four goals and six points in McMaster’s 14-3 opening round win over the UOIT Ridgebacks. The rookie attacker was on top form yet again two days later as the Marauders narrowly lost out in the seventh-place game against the Guelph Gryphons, scoring all three of McMaster’s goals in a 5-3 loss.
The first-year Social Sciences major was named as an OUA All-Star at the conclusion of the tournament, and stands as a nominee for the Rookie of the Year award.
