The veteran Roach provided the lone medal for McMaster’s women, helping the team to its best finish at the national championship tournament in a decade.
 
She defeated Alberta’s Sheina Fisher in the preliminary round, and bounced back from defeat to overcome a familiar opponent, Guelph’s Rhiannon Digweed, and claim bronze at 63kg. Roach’s medal was the high score that helped propel Mac to eighth place as a team.
