A year after his promising debut in maroon, Muizelaar continued his impressive performance at long distance as McMaster competed at the Fairweather Division Championship this past weekend in Guelph.
The second-year Marauder provided his team’s only gold medal, coming in the 1500m freestyle event, and added silver at 400m to account for two of his team’s three men’s individual medals at the meet.
Touching the wall in 15:53.07, Muizelaar outpaced his nearest opponent, Western’s Alex Paulins, by more than two seconds to claim the gold at 1500m. His blazing fast time would have been good for silver at the CIS Championship in February.
