Following his honours as the Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the tournament a year ago, Jacob Kao was once again a standout for the Marauders at the OUA Badminton Championship this past weekend.
Kao was recognized as an OUA All-Star while his team achieved its best showing at the conference championship with a run to the final and a silver medal. He was a perfect 2-0 in singles competition over the weekend, notching a crucial win over Waterloo’s Nathan Leung (21-19, 21-15) at the semifinal stage, and followed with a doubles win alongside Muhammad Kamarrudin at the expense of Clarence Chan and Andrew Lee (21-17, 21-11).
All told, Kao finished the tournament with a 7-4 record, and was McMaster’s lone male representative on the tournament All-Star team.
