After playing a role off the bench in McMaster’s first win of their weekend doubleheader against Lakehead, Hilary Hanaka exploded for her best performance of the year, and perhaps her young career, on Saturday.
The Marauders dominated the Thunderwolves to the tune of a 71-43 win in Friday’s opener, with Hanaka notching four points on just seven shots in 18 minutes of action. But it was on Saturday, as she got the starting nod, that the second-year guard took over. Hanaka posted a team high 18 points, hitting six of nine attempts from the field and four of seven from three-point range, while chipping in five boards and a perfect two-for-two effort from the charity stripe, as Mac downed Lakehead 73-64.
