One of two gold medallists for the Marauders at the CIS Wrestling Championships in Edmonton, Ahmed Shamiya posted a perfect 4-0 record and got his revenge on the way. Shamiya defeated Saskatchewan’s Malcom Meekins, Concordia’s Dimitry Gershanov and Winnipeg’s Brock Munro via falls to storm into the 72kg finals, where he faced Brock’s Tyler Rowe. Two week’s earlier, Rowe had gotten the best of Shamiya for the OUA gold medal, but the Marauder turned the tables on Saturday, out-pointing Rowe 6-5 to win CIS gold. His first-place finish — alongside that of Chris Garneau — propelled the Marauder men to national silver as a team.
