Showing the leadership that she's become renowned for, Nelles was ever-present on Sunday as the Marauders battled to a crucial 21-20 victory over the CIS no. 2-ranked Queen's Gaels. The McMaster captain played a starring role in all three tries scored by her team on the afternoon, setting up scores by Katie Svoboda and Colleen Irowa with long powerful runs before carrying the game-winning third in herself. But Nelles' presence extended beyond the offence, as she orchestrated a staunch Marauder defence that held the talented Gaels at bay until the final whistle, and by the slightest of margins.
