The McMaster Marauders women's basketball team suffered a defeat on the road at the hands of the Waterloo Warriors on Wednesday evening, 50-28 at the PAC Gym.
Â
Shooting woes plagued the Marauders throughout most of the match, as McMaster struggled to find a rhythm or a scoring touch beyond the free-throw line. Connecting on 5-57 from field goal range, the Maroon put up 11 points from the floor compared to their 17 points from the charity stripe.
Â
In comparison, the Warriors short 45.5% from behind the arc, knocking down 5-of-11 three-pointers, while the Marauders put up triple the amount of shots only seeing one bucket go through.
Â
Amy Stinson led the Marauders with eight points, making a push to turn things around at the free-throw line by going a perfect 8-for-8.
Â
Defensively the Marauders were able to force 33 turnovers, as they controlled the ball well, only suffering 14 on their end. But the Warriors dominated the boards outrebounding the visiting Maroon by 21 boards.
Â
The Marauders will need a short memory as they look to turn things around in two days' time as they host the Warriors at Burridge Gym this Friday at 6pm. With the season winding down, and the Warriors one spot back of the fourth seeded Marauders, playoff implications could be on the line.
