MARAUDERS BLOW OUT LANCERS, 97-66

The McMaster Marauders women's basketball team dominated the Windsor Landers on Wednesday evening. With a 31-point difference, the game ended McMaster 97 to Windsor 66.
 
Sarah Gates stuffed the stat sheet dropping a game-high 22 points and eight rebounds. Cassandra Joli-Coeur put up a respective four points in her 11 minutes of action, while leading all players in usage percentage at 37.07%.
 
Starting the game off strong, Amy Stinson put up the first points for the Marauders, with a three-pointer. Stinson put up strong numbers throughout the game, going 5-for-5 on threes, while shooting 62.5% from field goal range, along with grabbing six boards. From the first basket, the Marauders held the lead the entire game. The remainder of the first quarter, the Marauders hit six threes, playing hard defense and keeping Windsor to 14 points on 28.6% field goal shooting. The Lancers were unable to keep up with the Marauders' 28 first-quarter points.
 
The second quarter took a slower toll, while the Marauders kept the Lancers at Bay. Windsor added up 13 points, with the women in Maroon adding 15.
 
Coming back from the first half, the Marauders came out hustling. In a quarter where they more than doubled their opponent's points, the Marauders managed to play an offensive and defensive quarter. With two blocks, two steals, 11 rebounds, the squad also managed to put up 31 points - 11 field goals, four made free throws and five three-pointers. Cassandra Joli-Coeur knocked down a jumper in the last moment of the third to put the Marauders up by 32 going into the fourth.
 
In the last quarter, the Lancers tried to find their footing and did recover to put up 24 points shooting 69.2% from field goal range. However, the Marauders were unhinged and could not be caught, with the final score of 97-66.
 
The squad, with a 7-4 season record, will be headed to face off against Windsor once again on Saturday, where they look to sweep the Lancers in the series. Tip-off is set for 6pm.
