The McMaster Marauders men's basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Brock Badgers on Wednesday night in a close 94-88 final.

The Marauders came out strong, giving the undefeated Badgers solid competition, shooting with a 36.84 field goal percentage.
Though McMaster came out of the first quarter down 23-17, they continued to hustle and kept the game within just a few baskets.

Three-point accuracy helped the Marauders to keep up with their opponents, as they opened the match with two threes in the first and sank three in each of the remaining quarters.

Starting guard
Jordan Henry showcased his three-point confidence with nine attempts throughout the game, sinking three.

Mychael Paulo advertised his accuracy as well, hitting three of his seven attempts from the arc.

Entering the second quarter with conviction, the Marauders played the tightest fourth of the game, scoring 21 baskets to the Badgers 22, and went into halftime trailing 45-38.

Success on the offensive end was dialed up with an increase in field goal, three-point, and free throw attempts by McMaster.

Accuracy and persistence continued on the Marauder front in the third, with a 54.55 field goal percentage.

Although McMaster only sank six field goals in the third quarter, they racked up 24 points with three-pointers and nailed free throw accuracy with 75 per cent.

Mike Demagus was McMaster's star at the free throw line, hitting all five of his foul shots.

McMaster started the fourth quarter down by 11 points, but they weren't ready to throw in the towel and, instead, played their highest scoring quarter of the game.

The Marauders outscored Brock 26-21, bringing the win just three baskets out of reach, but, unfortunately, it wouldn't be done, and Brock remained undefeated.

McMaster is set to take on the Badgers in a rematch in the Burridge Gym on Saturday at 3 pm in celebration of Black History Month.
