MARAUDERS FALL 3-0 TO BADGERS IN HOME OPENER

The McMaster Marauders women's volleyball team took on the Brock Badgers in their home opener today, but unfortunately fell 3-0.

With maroon in the stands and a lively crowd filling the Burridge Gym, the Marauders put on an incredible performance for their fans.

McMaster kept pressure on Brock for the entirety of the match, holding the Badgers within just a few points in all three sets.

Coming out strong, McMaster killed Brock on the attack, but after a close back and forth first set, Brock took it 25-22.

Emma McKinnon's accuracy at the net had Brock on the floor — the rookie slammed four kills on the Badgers side in just the first set.

McKinnon brought the heat again in the second, alongside other outside hitters Sullie Sundara and Jessie Nairn, who were assisted by starting setter, Sarah Lagler-Clark.

Although McMaster kept the Badgers on their toes, they ultimately fell 25-20 in the second set.

After going on a six-point run at the start of the third set, the Marauders kept within just a few points of Brock for the rest of the game.

McMaster worked hard, trying to take the third set and stay alive, but the Badgers ended up taking it 25-21.

The Marauders hustle was unmatched on all parts, including a couple of big blocks for Ana Strbac and Ellie Hatashita.

Libero Hayley Brookes even took to the stands to try and save a ball for her tean.

The Marauders look to take on the Waterloo Warriors next on Nov. 27 at 1pm, again in the Burridge Gym.
