Our Sport Calendar (PDF) has finally been updated for the 2015-16 school year and we can't wait to play with you! A number of sports open for registration on Tuesday, September 8th. Whether paying online (beware the US exchange rate!) or in-person at the DBAC Business Office, be sure to register on IMLeagues.com/McMaster first. Some things to know and look forward to as we kick-off another year of fun, friendship and sport...
- Women in Sport Tour: September 27 & October 4: One of the best sporting events of the year, this multi-sport experience and teammate connector is just for women in first year. Learn more and register before September 20th at marauders.ca/WIST...
- Team Captains: Start getting your teams organized on IMLeagues and get your PlayStyle preferences sorted out. The Free Agent connector of IMLeagues is a great way to find new teammates.
- Free Agents: Everyone who wants to play, gets to play. It's our motto. Free Agents (players without a team) can join on IMLeagues.com as a free agent and hope a team adds them, but also have the option to pay a small fee for us to put them on an existing team in the league. Our Free Agent program helps us achieve our primary goal of getting people active while making social connections, and we're grateful for all the teams that welcome Free Agents onto their roster for the year. Learn more at marauders.ca/FreeAgents...Â
- Accessible Sport: Sports have a long history of privileging certain bodies and identities over others in the pursuit of wins, and athletes with disabilities, among others, may be unsure whether they are welcome to play in our leagues. To be clear: Winning means nothing to us, everyone is welcome to play, and we're here to discuss accommodations to meet the needs of all our students. That said, accommodation isn't our goal: We're working to build a truly accessible program where the burden is on us, and not the participant, to ensure our processes, rules and equipment are ready to serve everyone. We're not there yet, but we're getting closer. For now, if you want to play but are unsure how to get involved, whether related to a disability or otherwise, contact program coordinator Andrew Pettit. (Not sure what the difference is between access and accommodation? Watch the whole thing, and pay attention at 2:50 in this awesome McMaster-made accessibility video.)
