Leading a six-athlete split squad to Boston, Maddy McDonald broke a McMaster record in the 3000m event that positions her fourth among CIS runners at that distance.
McDonald's time of 9:34.44 was two seconds shy of her personal best, but four of the six Marauders who made the trek to Boston bettered their previous standards.
A week after medalling at McGill, Chelsea Mackinnon continued her impressive season by posting a personal best of 2:51.87 in the 1000m event, placing her sixth in the OUA at the distance. Jeff Tweedle, competing in the men's 1000m field, smashed his previous standard by a full four seconds with a time of 2:27.71 that ranks him 11th in the OUA. In the very same race, Eric Barry set a new personal best with a time of 2:32.29.
Distance specialist and cross-country standout Blair Morgan continued to inch up the OUA time standards at the 3000m distance, posting a time of 8:30.94 that ranks him 12th in the conference. In the same race, Jordan Bierema established a new personal best of 8:31.86.
The remainder of the Marauder teams stayed in Ontario to compete at the Windsor Team Challenge, where McMaster's men dominated the 3000m event. Taylor Forbes claimed gold, crossing the line almost a full ten seconds ahead of brother Austen in a time of 8:26.82. Second-year runner Gabe Ghiglione finished fifth, with rookie Paul Rochus and Derek Van Schepen following immediately behind.
Kaitlyn Pansegrau delivered the highlight on the women's side, winning silver in the 1000m event in a time of 3:02.58.
The Marauders return to competition on Friday, when they travel to Toronto for the Last Chance meet hosted by the Varsity Blues, in the final tuneup before the OUA Championships on February 21.
