WOMEN PLACE SECOND, MEN PLACE THIRD AT LOYOLA LAKEFRONT INVITATIONAL

Chicago, IL - The McMaster men's and women's cross country teams had a successful weekend in Chicago at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational, hosted by Loyola University. The women took second place out of 45 teams that entered while the men finished third overall. of the 48 teams that competed. 

Top finishers for the Marauders were Lindsay Carson (Cambridge, Ont.) with second place on the women's side at 17:26 and Andrew Yorke (Caledon East, Ont.) with third place on the men's side at 24:55.

In team results for the men, the Marauders finished behind Toledo and Edinboro for third place. McMaster also finished ahead of the No. 3 CIS ranked Western Mustangs who took fourth place.

Finishing behind Yorke and also in the top 20 was Taylor Reid (Terra Cotta, Ont.) finishing 11th with a time of 25:28 and finishing 12th was Graham Bowes (Kanata, Ont.) with a time of 25:34. Also running and placing for the Marauders included Cory McCurry (Bright's Grove, Ont.) at 59th, Zach Brown (Sarnia, Ont.) at 62nd, Jordan Bierema (Uxbridge, Ont.) at 66th and Andrew Bysice (Oakville, Ont.) at 71st.

The women's team was beat out by Iowa, ranked 27th in NCAA Division 1, and finished ahead of division rivals, the Western Mustangs who took third overall.

For the women, following behind Carson was Victoria Coates (Newmarket, Ont.) at seventh place with a time of 17:38 and directly behind her, teammate Jillian Wyman (Dundas, Ont.) in eighth with a time of 17:39. Other notable finishes include Sarah Haliburton (Richmond Hill, Ont.) finishing 14th at 17:57 and Stephanie MacNeill (Oakville, Ont.) finishing 16th with a time of 17:58. Courtney Patterson (Dundas, Ont.) finished 22nd and Sara Giovannetti (Mississauga, Ont.) finished 24th to round out the women's squad.

The McMaster cross country team heads to the Mustang Open on October 6 for their next meet.
