HAMILTON, Ont.— Women's rugby, Taylor Wood and men's soccer, Amir Shirazi earn the Marauder Athlete of the Week title after showcasing brilliant performances in their respective home openers over the weekend.
 
Women's Rugby- Taylor Wood (Uxbridge, Ont.)
2023 OUA First Team All-Star, Taylor Wood picked things up where she left off last season. The outside centre scored four tries and led the Marauders (1-0) to a commanding 57-0 victory against the Trent Excalibur (0-1) during the Birds home opener on Saturday evening. Wood's lethal cuts and lightning speed makes her a dangerous force against the opposition. The seasoned veteran looks to continue her dominating on-field presence during the 2024 campaign.
 
Men's Soccer- Amir Shirazi (Oakville, Ont.)
After being defeated 2-0 against the York Lions (2-0) on Friday evening, Amir Shirazi and the Marauders bounced back to secure their first triumph of the season against the Brock Badgers (0-2) on Sunday night. Shirazi was responsible for scoring both goals in McMaster's 2-0 win. Shirazi hustled on the field for a total of 173-minutes between both matches and will be a huge key in McMaster's successes this season.
