Entering the Hall of Fame as a coach, Dr. Ron Wallingford was nothing short of a transformational figure for the track and field, and cross country programs. Appointed as Head Coach from 1961 to 1969, he helped steer the Marauders to five Ontario-Quebec titles, as well as a CIAU national championship in 1963.

Coincidentally, Dr. Wallingford was inducted into the Marauder Hall of Fame as a member of the 1963 cross country team that astonishingly placed five of their runners in the first seven positions at the Canadian University Cross Country Champions – a historic feat. During his tenure, Dr. Wallingford was appointed the Coach and Manager of the Canadian team at the Inaugural World University games in Budapest, Hungary in 1965, and represented Canada as an athlete at the Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica in 1966 as well as the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg for the 1967 games.

In 2022, he was also inducted into the Athletics Ontario Hall of Fame as a builder.
