Ron toiled four years as a tight end, achieving OUAA all-star status (1973) and being the OUAA's premier lineman (1974); upon realizing his best shot at pro ball was as a linebacker, he made the switch in his fifth season. The result? OUAA all-star and CIAU all-Canadian honours, plus a successful pro career in the Canadian Football League, mainly with Winnipeg. Ron is a partner in a custom cabinet furniture business and a retail store in Oakville. He and his wife, Gail, have four children. Ron remains highly involved with amateur football in a coaching capacity.
