Ron has been a remarkable supporter and contributor to McMaster athletics. Ron began referring at the early age of 18, and he continued to referee in the CIS handling seven CIS championship games. He then pursed his referring career in the NCAA world, where he enjoyed a 20-year career. His love for basketball lead to the invention of the world famous Fox 40 whistle, which is now sold in over 100 countries. Ron has been inducted into 7 Hall of Fames, including the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame and Hamilton Gallery of Distinction. He is a former Hamilton Distinguished Citizen of the Year, he was named Profit Magazine’s Top 10 entrepreneurs of the decade. Ron was also named by Referee Magazine as one of the 52 Most Influential People in North American Sports Officiating History. At McMaster Ron has served on the board of Governor’s many committees, and has worked tirelessly as the chair for the football and basketball programs. Most recently he has taken the role of Chair in the Athletics and Recreation Capital Campaign.
