Rick captured the Marlin Rookie of the Year and MVP awards, and was named O.U.A.A.1st team All-Star and All-Canadian in 1979, achievements repeated consistently over the next four years. He captained the team his final three seasons and received the Ivor Wynne Award in 1982. Rick held the O.U.A.A. scoring record and now stands second all-time in total points and retains the record for assists. Rick's number 4 jersey was retired by McMaster in recognition of his on-ice excellence.
