Paul was a member of two OUAA championship wrestling teams (1985, 1986) and one CIAU championship team (1985). A four-year wrestler, he captured two CIAU medals and two OUAA individual championships. Paul was also a member of the football team where he was selected as the Marauder Rookie of the Year and was an OUAA All-Star and CIAU All-Canadian. After his time at McMaster, he went on to play football in the CFL, compete for the national bobsleigh team and play both professional hockey and roller hockey.
