Alongside his twin brother Dan, Mike Pletch arrived at McMaster in 2002 as a member of Canada’s U19 national program and proceeded to form the bedrock of a dynastic Marauders rugby squad in the early 2000s. He helped the Marauders to four OUA titles between 2002 and 2006 and a silver medal in 2004, while being named as an OUA All-Star on three occasions. He was named as the OUA MVP in 2006, while winning the Trillium Award as the conference’s Best All-Around Player and earned the Ivor Wynne Award as McMaster’s Male Athlete of the Year the following spring. The brothers represented Canada together at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, with Mike concluding his international career with 26 caps.
