As the Manager of Operations and Facilities (1988-2007), Les Miller was responsible for overseeing numerous university national championships McMaster hosted, including the 1992 CIAU women’s soccer championship, the 2000 CIAU men’s soccer championship, and the 2001-02 and 2002-03 CIS women’s basketball championships.

Miller’s legacy includes playing an integral part in providing McMaster with state-of-the-art athletics and recreation facilities. He was instrumental in the planning and construction of The Pulse Fitness Centre, Alumni Field, and more recently, Ron Joyce Stadium and the David Braley Athletic Centre. He led multiple major renovation projects in the Ivor Wynne Centre, including the Burridge Gymnasium bleachers, Rose Hill Dance Studio and tripling the size of the sport medicine clinic.

Miller was also involved in various international sporting events, including McMaster hosting women’s soccer as part of the 1993 FISU Games, 1994 International Children’s Games, 1994 FIBA World Championship, 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and the 2010 Commonwealth Games Bid put forward by the City of Hamilton.
